Ilias Muckli

Ilias joined Burrell Foley Fischer in July 2024, working on Stages 2-4 of Andover New Theatre, as well as supporting the practice to develop new BIM processes.

His postgraduate work at the Glasgow School of Art demonstrates his fascination for existing heritage and understanding its history, as well as its potential. His master’s thesis engaged with conservation theory and how to deal with one of Germany’s most contested brutalist buildings. His diploma thesis involved the adaptive reuse of an industrial livestock hall in Brussels, with a broader urban strategy to reconnect areas divided by the urban scar of the meatpacking district. During this time, he also worked as a model maker for a Glasgow-based studio and co-curated the school’s Friday Lecture Series.

After graduating from Sheffield SoA in 2019, Ilias spent two years gaining Part 1 experience in German-speaking offices, working for 12 months on the renovation of a large postmodern art museum in Munich, before moving to Basel to work on a Swiss housing development and a public sector competition.

When not working Ilias enjoys exploring the city and its surroundings by bike, playing football and going camping with friends.
