King Abdulaziz Racecourse

Masterplan for reorganised equestrian activity

Client: King Abdulaziz Racecourse
Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Status: Ongoing

Burrell Foley Fischer led an international multi-disciplinary team tasked with the major redevelopment of the site in Riyadh, which hosts the Saudi Cup: The world’s most valuable horse race. The project has been led by a complete overhaul of equestrian activity on site relocating all horse movements to a new complex south of the main grandstand. New facilities include 250 stables, Sample Testing areas, Owners and Trainers facilities, a new Weighing-In suite and broadcast centre.

  • The ethos of the project has been to deploy the traditional materials and construction techniques of the Najd region in a fresh and contemporary way, creating a world class venue, completely unique in character and unmistakably Saudi Arabian.
