Kingham Hill Library

Kingham Hill Library

Kingham Hill is a co-education, 11-19 independent boarding and day school in the heart of the Cotswolds. A real asset of the school is the fine quality of its stone buildings and mature grounds: Built around the turn of the last century in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the buildings still form a wonderfully coherent and consistent whole. A redeveloped and extended library will become the academic heart of the school. The new library will remain in Top School but will move from its existing location to a specially created and extended area of the building in order to make the very best use of space.

The size of the library will increase considerably from 98 sq m to 310 sq m, with a mezzanine creating an extensive second level. The use of glazing internally will make it open and accessible, as well as offering flexibility in how the space is used. Sixth formers will have a dedicated area, providing an additional place for study during this important year. The new library will make available the working spaces required for 21st century methods of teaching, learning and research, becoming a place where users can engage and converse with each other and library staff.
