Concrete Aesthetic features photographs of Gala Fairydean Football Stadium by Faye Davies.

Concrete Aesthetic has released its twelfth issue, spotlighting the understated architecture of Gala Fairydean Football Stadium through a new photographic series by Faye Davies, Managing Director of BFF.

The issue focuses on the quiet presence of one of Scotland's more understated football grounds, Gala Fairydean Football Stadium. Modest in scale yet rich in character, the stadium reflects a direct and functional approach to architecture, where concrete, structure and use come together without excess.

The 24-page A5 publication features black and white photography by Faye, a Specialist Conservation Architect. The images offer a calm and considered reading of the site, drawing attention to texture, repetition and the relationship between built form and its surroundings. Empty terraces and exposed surfaces reveal both the simplicity and the presence of the space.

Alongside her extensive conservation work, Faye has a particular passion for post-war Brutalist and modernist architecture, recognising the cultural and civic significance of these often-misunderstood structures. She travels extensively worldwide to study and document important Brutalist landmarks, bringing an informed international perspective to the conservation, repair and adaptive reuse of twentieth-century heritage. Her work combines a deep technical understanding of historic concrete and modern materials with a strong advocacy for their long-term preservation.
