Kidderminster Weaving Sheds hosts inaugural event
The refurbished Weaving Sheds in Kidderminster hosted their inaugural public event at the weekend with the venue being transformed for a Bavarian style, Oktoberfest, featuring Steins, bratwurst, live bands & more! The family focused afternoon session and the 18+ evening party were both popular and well attended.
Organisers, Kidderminster BID, said on social media,
“A huge thank you to everyone who came along to both the family and evening sessions at our first ever Kidderminster Oktoberfest yesterday! It was such a brilliant day from start to finish and great to see so many people come together to enjoy it. The Weaving Sheds looked fantastic once the lights came on, and we couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out.”

The restoration of the Grade II listed Former Magistrates' Court in Kidderminster town centre, led by Burrell Foley Fischer, has transformed the derelict site into a vibrant business and creative hub. Commissioned and managed by Wyre Forest District Council, the project was funded by the government-backed Future High Streets Fund and has unlocked the full potential of the site. Now known as The Old Court and The Weaving Sheds, the redevelopment reimagines the space for contemporary use while preserving its historical significance.
The Old Court offers 1,800 sqm of high-quality office and event space for rent and accommodates innovation initiatives serving the wider county. Spanning three floors and fully accessible by lift, the building features a mix of private workspaces, shared kitchens, meeting rooms, event spaces, and modern facilities including showers and toilets. The former court chamber has been transformed into a bright, spacious conference and meeting room.
To the rear of the office building lies an intact, north-lit weaving shed featuring a distinctive saw tooth roof. This roof is supported by cast-iron columns and fish-belly tie beams; manufactured by F. Bradley of Kidderminster, which widen towards the centre to enhance structural strength. Few examples of this industrial architecture remain, and this one was previously hidden from street view. Now fully restored, the space – branded ‘The Weaving Sheds’ – serves as a vibrant venue for community events, creative workshops, and social gatherings.
The Kidderminster Shuttle reported that Kidderminster BID manager James Barker said:
"Oktoberfest went down absolutely amazingly. The atmosphere was as expected for a Bavarian night. It was also amazing to see such an asset like the Weaving Sheds come to life and be transformed into a Bavarian beer hall. We've had great feedback on how we can utilise the space in the future, including for artisan markets, kids festivals and more."
On social media a resident commented “Great energy and fun added to a town we're becoming proud of.”
