WELLCOME TRUST LECTURE THEATRE AND DINING ROOMS

CLIENT: THE ROYAL SOCIETY

LISTED GRADE I

The refurbishment of the Wellcome Trust Lecture Theatre for The Royal Society provides modern lecture facilities that accommodate an audience of 300 within a Grade I listed building.

The Society's refurbished Dining Room has a seating capacity of 100 but is also a flexible space that can itself be used for smaller lectures or as an overflow space for the main lecture theatre. A retractable acoustic screen conceals the servery when the room is being used for lecture or formal dinners.

The refurbishment of both rooms has better integrated them with the rest of The Royal Society headquarters, giving them the same visual impact as the new reception and atrium.

The decorations were carefully chosen to complement and integrate with the rest of the basement, which was refurbished by Burrell Foley Fischer in 2003 to exhibit pieces from the Society's portrait collection.

The Society values its professional relationship with Burrell Foley Fischer as they continue to provide innovative and modern concepts, whilst offering sound advice to protect the historic nature of our buildings.
